Learn About The Moon

Lets take a moment to take a closer look to the moon. Remember the moon is so powerful and it affects the high and low tides. And we humans are 90 percent water, so it naturally figures to think carefully about the moon and how it affects us. This shouldn’t be surprise just common sense. For example full moons are especially known to create high emotional times.

The key is to realize that every 28 days the moon goes through every sign of the zodiac. Everyone is involved, every day, every month. And as it does this, it not only makes aspects with the other planets in the sky all the planets, but in your own natal chart. Even if you don’t know your chart right now you can easily get it online and there are several sites which will give you one for free. Just make a search for astrological charts on Google search where is the moon today and with this you can now look at the aspects of the moon and by comparison what it is doing in your natal chart. You can start easy with just noting when it makes a conjunction (same degree, same sign) as you Sun, Moon and Rising sign. This will take a little self-discipline, but if you want to understand the moon, it is worth it. These days will bring special attention to your quest for lunar understanding. You will be surprised how easy it becomes after you get used to it. Make it a thing to do before looking at your emails in the morning.

Another key is to know what sign and aspects the moon is making to the planets in the sky at the time each day. Again the easiest is to just Google where is the moon today and you will receive the information you need. Also the publisher, Llewellyn, sells a variety calendars, which gives the aspects of the moon every day of the year. It especially good to know what sign the moon is in as its transiting aspects. There is a years weekly overview in the front of the Daily Planetary Guide that will go through the moon’s motions to help beginners know what is going on and learn some techniques. Not only that but eclipses and full and new moons. And finally if you want every thing in one magazine, the Dell Monthly Astrologer and other astrological magazines do that as well, along with articles on popular subject in the astrological world. Take the plunge study the moon.

Saturn Jupiter Uranus Churn 2021

In 2021 Saturn and Uranus Continue Their Duel – Jupiter Scouts the Integration. This is a view for the future. Saturn is the planet of definition, of defining things. Saturn is happy with there is order and structure, when fundamental principles are in play. Often depicted as a mean old who always spoils the party, there is a lot of good things at play here. Nothing lasts long with out some rules to guide us, a blue print on what is meant to be a working plan, or even a plan at all is what we all need if the future is going to succeed.

The problem comes when Saturn is challenged by change. The old boy is fond of a working status quo, even when it seems to need change. Enter Uranus, the ole god of rebellion, change, sudden events, thinking out side the box, thinking when there might be no box at all, just kick the box out. Uranus likes humanitarian causes, the rights of the individual, the strength of new ideas and new ways of doing things.

2021 has three Saturn Square Uranus parenthetically between February and December so look for there to be conflicts and disagreements on the best way to do things or how to view the world and our place and how we live in it. The big deal is covid 19 and the vaccine distribution and the best way to make sure it is done properly. The second problem is how we start to work back to a “normal” way to life. This problem goes deeper that to wear masks, it goes to the heart of what is needed. It includes economics and greater social reform.

There is a lot of financial, environmental and infrastructure issues to be dealt with. There are still lots of people unemployed, behind or can’t pay the rent or mortgages, educations issues when will still be in need of innovation and how to play catch us.
These issues will need to be figured out and do not expect 2021 to be a big bail out. It won’t be 2020 (thank god) but the wrestling match between Uranus and Saturn will continue all year long. Another lurking problem is rebuilding the infrastructure of our nation. Any traveler will know that our roads, air ports, train depot and lots of other ideas like green energy will have to be ironed out.

Where is the hope in all this? Look to Jupiter who will be busy searching ways to blend our problems into an intergraded future. The key is when Jupiter in the spring and early summer slips into Pisces. Pisces is the spiritual work, the world of visions, or imagination. Jupiter will bring back into where it will spend six more months in Aquarius. This is where the progress is starting to play out. Out of this continued blender of problems, Jupiter will be the one with the energy and drive to push the world into a new structure to replace the chaos of the pandemic as well the economic problems that came with it. This is a big-ticket item. The energy of the biggest planet is needed here to show us how to build on the reality that emerges from the Saturn Uranus square. It will be a bumpy ride, but the road will get better with passing time.

2021 Will Be A Challenge of Innovation

The Big Conjunction Will set the Theme for 2021

Jupiter-Saturn Conjunction happens the same day as the the Winter Solstice 2020 and this sets a grand theme. Change and help are on the way. Yet the way will be a bumpy ride. The Solstice is the ingress of the Sun to Capricorn, at zero degrees . Just when Jupiter-Saturn at zero 32 of Aquarius This will mean December 21 2020 will have these two events, the Solstice and conjunction, on THE SAME DAY, which is a giant semisextile, to say the least. The last time this happened was in the year 1226. We are also experiencing a change of elements in this conjunction ( earth-air)which is another event going back in history. Giant cycle shifts are at work.

In 2020 Jupiter Saturn were together in Capricorn conjunct Pluto at various times. This hadn’t happened since 1518, So obviously we are dealing with big cycles here. With this ingress solstice conjunction harbingers back to 1226.So good bye Capricorn conjunction of 2020 Hello to the Airy sign of Aquarius. Lets take a look at what this means. Change, certainly, but how.

Lets call it a paradigm shift. The whole energy field that we are dealing with in the large orb conjunction of the big three planets now become residents in the sign of Uranus, who is hanging out in Taurus. Things will be different and new habits and solutions will have multiple responses.

Aquarius is a sign known for these key words: independent, inventive, individualistic, progressive artistic scientific logical, humane altruistic. However there are some negatives: unpredictable, temperamental, bored by detail, cold, fixed in opinions, sky, eccentric, radical, impersonal, rebellious. So this is quite different from the practical and pragmatic Capricorn.

This is a dance of three in 2021. We have Jupiter and Saturn in Uranus’ home sign, so everything that Jupiter and Saturn do will have an Uranus flavor to it. The key thing to note about this starting of the year begins with Jupiter and Saturn squaring Uranus in Taurus, which means the two fixed signs will be struggling to deal with their stubborn natures. There will be fireworks. Throw Mars into the mix and Mercury as well and what a start to the year, and that is just the introduction

Lets look. Jupiter and Saturn will be in the intellectual air sign, making it full of new ideas, improvising concepts, efforts to solve old problems and new ones as well in innovative ways, then Uranus in Taurus, an earth sign which wed to old ways and change will seem like earthquakes. This is not to say that Uranus in Taurus will resist change, just that it will not be easy. Uranus is having a tough time in Taurus because it wants to innovate in a sign that resists innovation. So the squares will add up to a train wreck of conflicts of timing, ideas, and implementation.

The problems will be many: the economy, the homeless, unemployed, mortgage and rent crisis. And a thing called hunger, or eating challenges (for god’s sake a weird way to say it). PLUS there is the huge problem on the covid vaccine roll out and how that is to be handled in getting the vaccine and the fair way to get it to the people.
Not to mention the political climate which still will be bordering on the unstable and stressful. The two party system will face times of crisis.

Another thing that will be unusual aspect to 2021 is that there will be an abundance of out of bounds planets. Mercury, the moon, Venus and Mars will all go out of bounds this year and sometimes three at a time. This means that there will be more thinking out of the box and this will get loopy at times. 2021 will have rollercoaster feeling. There will be times when the whole nation will be gripped with changes that are difficult, because the solutions needed to aright the ship of state might make some seasick. Buckle ups you cowboys and girls. This won’t be a merry-go-round, or smooth sailing. But it won’t be 2020 thank god and there will be light at the end of the tunnel, new buds on the tree and the red robin will announce the end of a long time of cold weather.

Tips on Survival

Got the Cabin fever blues? Tired of Zoom and movie bingeing, media burnout. And the tension of the news? And it looks like more tension as we enter 2021. There will be vaccine pressure, who gets it and when. WOW. So here are this astrologer’s steps to keep above water.

1 – Keep learning by keeping brain sharp: Read a book, learn something new, try art, music your choice, but do it. Be disciplined it takes effort to be positive and self stimulating. 2 Love someone, something, like the blue sky mystery of life 3 Humor see the humor in things, the paradoxes, don’t dwell on negative 4 Don’t “grow old or bored with present”, keep alert for now and tomorrow 5 Get over pain of past don’t slip into remembering difficult memories 6 – Keep dreaming, Eric Fromm said that people who had dreams and goals while in the holocaust survived best. And look what they were up against 6- Look your best even set times for it. Dress up, wear a sharp outfit or shirt, something other than slippers or tennis shoes. Don’t just always be in sweats or pajamas 7 Meditate, listen to good music pray if that works for you. There are books on meditation, watch and learn from YouTube. Don’t just watch, do something alone and quiet, A enjoy good solitude, which is different from lonely. 8 Listen — really listen to other people, what is really going on? 9 Be kind, helpful when you can, 10 Talk to people, reach out, don’t wait for a phone, reach out to friends, relatives, associates make a list. Try these helpful (I hope) steps.

But don’t take my list or anyone’s list. Make you own list. Follow it! Remember disciple and action are the key to beating cabin fever. Keep a pad of paper as you go through your process of your own helpful tips.

Astrology mental heath is more than just a chart, but if you have one here are some tips . 1 Go through the hard and soft aspects how they can teach. 2 Remember squares can be good, they can make things happen. 3 Things will not stay the same. Are you ready for that? 4 Where are Saturn and Jupiter? Saturn looks like restriction? What restriction looks positive? Jupiter shows expansion. Where does that look to happen? 5 Stay positive. Remember we have freewill to make our decisions. There are some things we cannot control, like the pandemic, but how we work with its problems is our decision. 6 May Mercury make you curious about what to do and follow through, 7 Follow the moon rolling through the signs, feel the tidal rhythms Keep an eye on Neptune. 8 Remember Uranus is in Taurus things can be shaken up. 8 Mars is an energy source where do you plug in? 9 Venus shows where the beautiful is. 10 Pluto is still the dark teacher who can lead to transformation. Just saying.

Jupiter and Saturn at .09 Aquarius December 19, 2020 Key to Vaccine

There has been a lot of talk about the covig-19 vaccine. Or should I say vaccines! It seems that there are at least three or four labs saying they are on the verge, or even in preliminary trials. Don’t worry they keep saying it is coming soon. But each “soon” comes and goes. Besides how inclusive would the vaccine be? Dr.Fauchi says it might be 50-60 % effective. I keep wondering what that means. That still leaves and other 50 – 40% not covered. What happened to them. We can’t have a half quarantine, can we? Let’s say my wife and I get the vaccine and she is covered, no covieg-19 for her. But there I am what happens to me? I am exposed, it is not working on me. I have yet to get it all figured out. And with all these companies getting vaccines, perhaps we can mix and match different doses.

I am no genius, but things like these worry me. However I do have an idea when the vaccines will start serious testing and presenting them to the public: the end of December 2020. And my idea for this is that Jupiter and Saturn will be leaving the sign of Capricorn for good! Yay! At last we will be done with these two planets of such different energies will be out of Capricorn. That will mean only Pluto will be there “til 2024, which is still enough time for him to do his thing in getting us all the participate in more of his “transformational” mischief.

However lets just take a look at what it means when Saturn and Jupiter are in Aquarius. It means that these two planets will be able to stretch their legs to a different sign, to a different drummer as the sands of time march on. And that is what we want for the creativity of Aquarius, its drive for out of the box thinking, for unusual solutions, a bit of the rebellious spirit. And believe me we are in need of it.

Saturn entered Aquarius for just a peek starting on March 23. It got all the way 1:57 degrees on May 10th and back to Capricorn on July 1. It is during this period of time that the great experiments on the vaccine got into gear, not the we were going anywhere, but at least we were in gear. The key I think is the note that Saturn in Aquarius gave us a big clue. Changes are coming when both of the big planets are in Aquarius.

This means the 2021 will be an exciting year of growth Hopefully there will be social changes to go along with this scientific creativity. One of the keys is that around summer solstice time Saturn and Uranus will square at 13 degrees of Taurus/Aquarius. This square will give us movement in the right direction and Saturn will direct Uranus into the fray. Couple this with the energy of Jupiter square Uranus in Jan 18th 2021 will deliver the energy to push us in the way to the goods of a vaccine that we can use.

While all this sound like a long time. Remember that it wasn’t until March that we even began to get in gear for a vaccine. That means the Dr. Fauci was right at that time. It will (and did) take a year and in a year we will will have one. Of course will be tinkered with the ways it can be changed and updated with new insights Yet after the great quarantine this should us get to know the “New Normal”

When Will Covid 19 End?

There are a lot of ways to look for an answer to the 64 trillion dollar question. I have looked at this issue from a lot of angles and have decided that I would have to say starting in January 1 2021 is when we can see longer term answers to long term problems. This is not to say that there won’t be some kinds of attempts to reopen society. There most certainly will, but these efforts will be on a hit and miss basis. The greater overview and lasting response will come to be only after Saturn and Jupiter are both in Aquarius. Their conjunction at the 19th of December will mark when all these energies will be in the air sign of innovation for good. Jupiter for approx a year, Saturn for two and a half. These Aquarius energies will give ample time to get some serious work done.

Pluto, for sure will be still in Capricorn and his serious need to hack away at the older out style forms of energy will be one of the issues. What will be the future of oil after it has gone to being worth a negative zero. What will the world think when we have all seen how clean the world became after the pandemic shutdown and the skies were bluer, the air cleaner and the oceans and rivers clearer. I think that there will be a real push to get more environmental issues cleaned up. The question is: will there be the social will to do so. I would like to say yes and I firmly believe some advancement will happen, but the way people suddenly rush to open beaches with no eye to the environment makes one worry. Is there something that can really be done about the traffic, about fossil fuel. How much attention will the Green New Deal actually get??

I suggest that the way to see this is to look to Pluto in Capricorn, Saturn and Jupiter in Aquarius, and Neptune in Pisces. Pluto is in the problems of Earth, Saturn and Jupiter in the sign of air, analysis and thinking, of innovation, and Neptune is in the water sign of spirit and inspiration. These are the things necessary to approach, think through, and inspire a concept or concepts that will bring honest change, change that will be difficult but a true turning point.

The Green New Deal will have to get more attention. The younger generation needs to step up. They have inherited a lot of serious problems on the planet–not to mention climate change, which must be addressed with some sort of united effort. Will mankind’s devotion to the flight or fight basis of the Lizard brain finally be controlled by the frontal cortex and new thinking overcome old animal territorial issues. For when will we get to the whole true issue in the core foundation of human beings on this planet. As W H Auden put it in his famous poem, 1939. “We must love on another or die.” Not to get New Age mushy, but the truth is the planet is dying, man is destroying it and using it as a war game. Suffering is still what most people get from an abundance which is not shared equally.

Let me say this, 2020 is the year of Shiva, the destroyer. Can 2021 be the year of the Phoenix, rising from the ashes into a new set of wings that will make the human spirit soar.

And then Came Covid19

A lot of my friends have asked me how is it that most astrologers did not predict the covid 19? Well, let me explain. Every astrologer on the planet expected 2020 to be a crazy and explosive year. There were lots of reports that the main event would be the conjunction of Saturn with Pluto on January 12 2020. The last time there was this conjunction at this time with both planet meeting in Capricorn had not happened since 1518. That’s right and just to fill you in on that time–it was the time that the REFORMATION started, releasing the horror of religious strife that would bring on things like the many wars over who had the correct religious focus and remember those who didn’t have this correct denomination would surely be sinners to those who did, and it was a battle as to whose religious theology was really saving souls. War was the way to find out. Enough said on the ensuing period of history which came to spawn the English and European problems in terms of the best religion. Also the slave trade really changed focus to Africa from the West Indies. African became the best sort of slave because they were stronger and worked better in extreme heat. Plus, since Columbus had just discovered a new world to exploit and conquer and fight over.

SOOO Back to what astrologers thought this historical concept of the results of the Capricorn cycle involved in 2020′s Saturn Conjunction of Pluto. Plus two eclipses, one right before the conjunction of the 11th. So astrologers all predicted an economic collapse, a stock market crash and the economic systems would all be in shambles leading to a great depression. That was what I thought. And the other idea was that there would be another war of some kind with Iran or North Korea or some other hot spot that would flare up. Actually it was Bill Gates of Microsoft who warned of an epidemic problem. But didn’t date when it would happen. (it was predicted in 2016)

Actually the only astrologer who did predict the plague up front was Ray Merriman Of ISAR who said there might be an epidemic of some kind in 2020 And he kind of threw that out after he had finished pointing out that the stock market would be in terrible shape an a new economics might be upon us.

So, actually the astrologers I know were about half right, the market did collapse and a new economic system would have to evolve, even a great recession. But, oh yeah, that virus.

What is amazing to me was how accurate the events happened during January 2020 was: it was then that the epidemic was wild in China, but went pandemic in late January, even though the president of the US was calling it a hoax. Then came the shelter in place lock-down and the whole situation is still in flux. Millions out of work, food lines hospitals full. The next questions was and will be when will this be over?

For me I don’t see how this can be over until December or longer when both Saturn and Jupiter will conjunct in Aquarius. This is not to say that there not will be times of getting things started, to get better and there will be another wave of the virus to deal with. Yet The vaccine and the real release will not, as I see it,begin until Jan 2021. At this point I will only say that Aquarius is the inventive sign of change and adjustment, of rebellion and individualism, of finding new ways to deal with things that deal with lots of people (the 11th house issue of a lot of people, new interest groups and ways to think of social responsibilities, and political foundations ).

Conjunctions, Conjunctions, The Squeeze Is On

Conjunctions are everywhere. Let me start by saying I am using the solstice points as the 2020 framework. Why? I have come to the conclusion that the solstice points are the best way to look at the real beginning and end of the year. Take the situation last year. The solstice point was on Dec. 21, 2019. From this point to the solstice point on Dec 21, 2020 is the way I calculate a year. Try it and see what you think.

Using this as my annual solstice time measurement, let’s take a look. The result is we have Saturn conjunct Pluto one time, but Jupiter makes three conjunctions to Pluto. Two eclipses, which are, after all are conjunctions of sun and moon. This makes six conjunctions. Add the eclipse on Dec 25-6 2019 and we have seven conjunctions of significant for the solstice-to-solstice year. (I am not including the lunar eclipses, which are oppositions, and in their on way add emotional concerns to an already complicated situation.)

Conjunctions are a squeeze play in the Zodiac (to use football lingo.) The thing is that one of the heralded conjunctions is Saturn to Pluto is contraction. Echoes of their conjunction in Capricorn in 1518 should be considered a trying and significant time . The three Jupiter Pluto conjunctions are expansion the eclipses are conjunctions.
This is what I mean about the big squeeze in on.

What is the result of this? What I call the pulse. All this expansion and contraction is like a pulse of energy in and out.
Saturn in its own sign is powerful throughout the year. However there is a time between March and September when Saturn is in Aquarius (0 to 1.9 degrees) this is the spice, Saturn sending the liberating and rebellious of Aquarius into the pulse. At the end of the year Jupiter and Saturn conjunct at Dec 21 at 0 degrees Aquarius. Hopefully indicating some release for all the pounding earth element. Will the air element of Aquarius, intellectual, bring solutions? I hope so.

January, April, June, November and December are times of the big squeeze and I advise people to watch these dates carefully and this is the most logical time to expect things to get, well, a little more dicey and usual.

Everyone with planets in the last ten degrees of a cardinal sign will be especially exposed to the energy. Be ready for it. Things will happen that can be best understood by looking at your personal chart

Anyone with fixed sign planets in the first decant will feel the energy of Uranus. More spice for the year. Change will be rough in this area, more dynamic because they have the great pulse to deal with.

The one thing that may help is that Jupiter makes tree sextiles to Neptune in Pisces, which hopefully will add some visionary element to the tensions as the pulse continues to move through 2020. Note all this is sandwiched in between two total eclipses, which underlines the idea that there is a lot action to be had this year.

Big Cycles Trend to Show Long Term Changes

Why is everyone so focused on 2020? At the very core of all this attention is 1518. Why? Because this was the date of the last Saturn conjunction with Pluto in Capricorn. In the zodiac, there are various planetary cycles, lunar, Mercury, Venus etc which tell the type of cycle. What is importance 2020? It is the cycle of Pluto and Saturn conjunction in Capricorn? Our attention turns to history to see what kind of things were happening in the world in that time (1518) and about and after. This is where the terrain gets a little difficult. Consider just four.

Luther nails his demands on the door of a Catholic Cathedral in Germany. This started the Reformation.

Slave trade grows dramatically as the use of Africans for slaves develops all over most of New World

Mercantile Economics starts spreading intense colonial activity for colonial expansion. Leads to wars.

English tensions with the catholic church continue until later King Vlll leaves to start the Anglican Church.

It makes one consider what the might be the ramifications the Saturn Pluto conjunction will have as the new cycle time moves on. We have a world divided over religious differences, economic, and culture. Wars in middle east, more economic trials of the creaking financial market5. Challenges from Russia and China. American leadership is hawkish and impulsive, exacerbating an already sensitive checker board. Playing the serious (Saturn) game of life is the game we should all consider. Make smart moves.

BASIC CHANGES COMING TO CONSIDER:

Think long term.. . .What will the next two the five years down the road be like?. Look at where you have been and how you handled that, where you made mistakes. What worked out. Then down the road a ways a couple to a few more years. Look at foundations that are strong, which are weak? They will be tested Be sure to look at your job, your relationships, where you live, hard times ahead, where it looks brighter. Consider things you have to take care of but are putting off. Be active yet pensive.

Add that every one is fearful of a global worry, climate change–it will get worse until the humans get smart about mother earth. We are a digitally affiliated world and yet must read the writing on the wall we need to unite for our planet. This blog is about a big cycles and how they work in the historical mundane record and personal progress. Be insightful and intuitive, yet sharp and critical as you trod your path.

Neptune and the Tide of Light and Darkness

In this blog I would like to make some comments on the planet Neptune. Often in older astrology books the planet the key words are dreams, ideals, illusion’s, mystery, spiritual, psychic, escapism, addiction, mysticism, and the list goes on with the polarity of the illumination and darkness that is possible with Neptune.
Neptune is first and foremost a water sign, the reference to the sea, which is saltwater by the way, which we always remember as the cradle of life. The symbol of the sign of Pisces, ruler of the twelve house is that of two fish, one pointed up the other deeper down and the two are held by a long almost embryological cord.
It is my contention that the student need only meditate on this symbol to gain great insight to the planet’s meaning. First while the symbol of fish live in the sea, we must also remember that the sea is nature’s solvent. Most things are dissolved by salt water and yet this is the cosmic soup of live of all kinds. It is also the source of the evolution of the survival of the fittest. From the smallest forms of life to the shark, the sea is where it started and still and a whole world of creatures l live.
Fresh water is another story of evolution, but the very origin of fresh water comes from the evaporation of seawater into the air where clouds bring fresh water purified of the salt. This is why Aquarius the water giver. He takes water from the sea to create fresh water and lightening.
The ocean is thus very easily conceptualized as Jung’s unconsciousness –it first and foremost a place of light and darkness, a place where vision can be difficult or clear almost and sometimes to transcendence. It is a place where archetypes flourish. It is a place of dolphins and sharks,
The first thing a scuba diver asks is what is the visibility today. Sometimes the waters are bright with the sun, other time the sea is dark and limited ability to see makes entering the deep dangerous and confusing, it easy to lose one’s way. And we must remember in all this there is a chain of being, a hierarchy in which only the strong survive. Yet the scuba diver will see both the joy of fish embracing the light, of fearing the night where an abundance of creatures can attack. It is also a place where rust can eat away at his gear if not well taken care of. All metals are destroyed over time in the sea, even great battleships. Seawater brings changes.
Depth leans to the darkness, it is the time when the predators can dive deep to hunt with gifts of perception that use evolved ways of seeing in the dark with electromagnet awareness. Sharks can perceive through their own electro awareness. Others use sound. All this can be built on understanding the glyph of Pisces. This higher fish is in the light the other fuller down is in the dark. In the light is the consciousness the darkener the unconsciousness. In short as Jung said, a dangerous place.
Thus we immediately see the immediate few key words: solvent, source of light and darkness, well spring of all life, both predator and vegan. Vision of perception that over whelms, vision of darkness and danger. Ancient sailors were sure of large dangerous creatures that could destroy a ship and gobble sailors. In the light is visual navigation, in the dark deeper instincts dominate.
Lets look at my favorite word for Neptune: solvent and fluidity which brings changes. Neptune is the challenger of boundaries. Things will not remain the same. Visions may sharpen or become darker. One can be sucked into darkness or swim in the light.
This essay is not to present a list or a long group of “key words.” It is hopefully a spark for discussion of symbolism from which meanings can be perceived in relation to the planets and the elements in the zodiac. Neptune is the mystery of light and darkness, of change and boundary’s that will change. Nothing can resist this flow of the sea. Darkness can lead to destructive events, or one can go from darkness to light. Similarly light can go to darkness. One can thrive or drown. Even Saturn struggles with Neptune’s ability to erode structure. As ruler of the 12th house, it is truly a matter of the splendors of illumination or the darkness of death.
